PrimeTime Shootout 2020

PrimeTime Shootout 2020

The 2020 PrimeTime Shootout moved from its customary home in Massachusetts to five New Hampshire cities from July 23-24. The event featured unprecedented focuses on health and safety, with vital protocols put in place to protect players, coaches, staff and fans while still providing an incredible outlet for competition and growth in lacrosse.

The PrimeTime Shootout hosted 145 teams from 24 clubs and one high school – Billerica Memorial High School – collectively descending upon Epping, Pembroke, Bedford, Manchester and Holderness for the jam-packed, two-day lacrosse shootout spanning players from the Class of 2020 to 2029.

The majority of the action took place at The Holderness School in Holderness (2023 A, 2023 AA, 2022 A, 2022 AA, 2021 A, 2021 AA, 2020/HS Varsity and some of 2027 AA) and Pembroke’s NH Soccer Complex (2028 A, 2028 AA, 2026 A, 2026 AA and some of 2027 A, 2025 A and 2024 A). The remaining games were played at Seacoast United Outdoor Complex in Epping (2029), Bedford’s Back River Sports Complex (2024 A and some of 2027 A, 2027 AA and 2025 AA) and Derryfield School in Manchester (some of 2025 A and 2024 A).

Tons of teams saw great success in their PrimeTime Shootout experiences. Thirty different teams went undefeated through their schedules, and 18 of those won all four or three of their contests. Laxachusetts was far and away the most dominant club at PrimeTime Shootout with 12 of its teams completing an unbeaten run in the event. 3d New England was next with five teams accomplishing the feat, then 4Leaf and Clams each had three undefeated squads. Penguins Select Lacrosse had two sides make it through without a loss, too.

Other clubs that sent at least one team to PrimeTime Shootout included NE Twisters, Houlagans, Gorilla, NH Tomahawks, HGR, Kings, Necks, Savage, RI Bulldogs, Mountaineers, CT-Shoreline Sharks, Cape Cod Kings, MXB Prep, EB Lacrosse, Mohawks Lacrosse Club, Piatelli, Poseidon, Prospectors and North Shore Storm.

Some teams had better showings than others in the wins and losses columns, but across the board, everyone who participated in the 2020 PrimeTime Shootout were treated to an invaluable opportunity to test themselves against some of the best the region has to offer. For those who won, they discovered about what works and will take that with them going forward. For those who didn’t reach favorable scores, PrimeTime Shootout was a chance to learn how to respond and what to focus on in the future to improve. In all, especially in times like these, the growth the clubs were offered won’t soon be forgotten.
