Watch the best players at any level, and you will notice they have one thing in common; they all genuinely love playing the game of lacrosse. It is that passion and love for the game that inspires our programs at PrimeTime Lacrosse. It is our firm belief that if you love what you do, improvement will follow. It is the goal of PrimeTime Lacrosse, first and foremost, to see that players leave our programs feeling good about themselves and the game in turn growing the game of lacrosse in a positive manner through camps, leagues and clinics.

The PrimeTime Lacrosse staff is a hand selected group of individuals who are not only the top players, but role models as well. Each of our staff members are players who excel on the lacrosse field, and in the classroom and in the community as well. With PrimeTime Lacrosse you see a staff of individuals that is always engaged with the campers, holding themselves and the players to the highest level of sportsmanship and integrity on and off the field. PrimeTime Lacrosse prides itself on a staff that takes a genuine interest in getting to know each and every player, and what they need to do to take their game to the next level and grow an authentic love for the sport.

Who we are

 

Tyler Low

After founding PrimeTime Lacrosse along with Jason Wellemeyer in 2007, Tyler Low has helped to grow PrimeTime Lacrosse from a pick up league with 75 participants, to hosting lacrosse camps, clinics, leagues, training that saw over 1500 participants in 2009.

Low played NCAA lacrosse as a defenseman at Babson College in Wellesley, MA, serving as a Captain in his senior year. In addition to directing PrimeTime Lacrosse programs year round, Tyler currently serves as the Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator of the NCAA Division III UMass-Boston Beacons of the Little East conference.

Jason Wellemeyer

Co-Founding PrimeTime Lacrosse in 2007 as a Junior attackman at Babson College, Jason Wellemeyer currently co-owns PrimeTime Lacrosse alongside Tyler Low after wrapping up a stellar career at Babson College, and currently stands seventh on Babson College's all time scoring list with 115 goals and 36 assists for 151 career points.

After serving as Co-Captain in his Junior and Senior seasons, and as an Assistant Coach at Babson College in 2009, Wellemeyer is currently the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Cohasset High School to Stew Curran.

 

Jack Piatelli

Lacrosse TeamWidely regarded as one of the country’s premier teachers of the game, Jack is 1986 graduate of Springfield College where he was a captain and All-American selection in his senior year, later going on to a successful professional career with the Boston Blazers. Jack continues to play at an elite level, most recently selected as the Masters Division MVP of the renowned Hawaii Lacrosse Invitational in 2007 and as a member of Team USA (Masters Division) for the World Games in Perth Australia in 2002. Jack is a 1999 inductee into the New England Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Jack has served as a coach at every level of the game, from Assistant Coach of Dean College in Franklin, MA, to founding the King Phillip Lacrosse programs for boys and girls, and serving as a coach at various levels within both the boys and girls programs. In addition to representing Brine and Warrior sports as the Northeast Sales Manager, Jack founded VIP Lacrosse, one of the New England’s premier lacrosse camp, clinic, and league operations for boys and girls. Jack's experience in running successful lacrosse camps in Massachusetts is unparalleled. In merging with PrimeTime Lacrosse, Jack, Tyler and Jason believe with their combined resources, they have created the region’s premier lacrosse instructional programs and look forward to a successful 2009.

Stew Curran

Face OffThe current head coach of perennial Massachusetts powerhouse Cohasset High School, Stew Curran has excelled in all areas in the lacrosse world. He has coached at both the collegiate and high school levels, most notably at Emerson College and Babson College, as well as Boston College High School and Brookline High School. Most recently, in 2006 and 2007, Stew was named South Shore coach of the year while leading Cohasset to the Division 3 state championship game each of the last three years, taking home two state championship titles.

Stew is a founding member of Board of Directors and a team coach for Hull Youth Lacrosse. He was also a member of the USA box lacrosse team from 1978-1980, participating in the Four Nations World Championships. Stew brings decades of coaching experience to PrimeTime Lacrosse, having coached lacrosse camps across New England and it is a privilege to have Stew back with us in 2009.

Bussy Adam

In addition to helping with our camps and clinics, Bussy Adam will coach our U-11 PrimeTime penguins team. Bussy is the current head coach at Newton North high school where he has been with the program for thirty years, amassing 13 Bay State league championships, 5 Eastern Mass championships, and 3 Massachusetts State Lacrosse championships in 18 state tournament appearances. He has been named Bay State league coach of the year 4 times, and was named Boston Globe coach of the Year in 1994.

In addition to his experience with Newton North High School lacrosse, Bussy has also served as a coach for the U-15 Team USA team in Melbourne, Australia, the National High School All Star game, currently serves as a coach in the Newton youth lacrosse program at the U-9 and U-11 levels where Bussy is also on the Board of Directors.

As a player, Bussy was an All-America selection and captain at Newton (North) High School where he also held the school scoring record with 86 points. After Newton North, Bussy enjoyed a tremendous career at Boston State College (now, UMass-Boston) where he was named Team MVP as well as named to the National North South All Star game and was selected as the MVP of the New England Senior All Star game. Bussy was enshrined in the Newton High School Hall of Fame in 2004 and the UMass-Boston Hall of Fame in 2006.

Bussy has been a member of the Newton Police Department since 1983, serving as a youth officer for 18 of those years. Bussy now serves in the detective bureau, and was most recently honored with the Newton Youth Commission Service Award in 2009. Bussy currently resides in West Newton with his wife Shelli, and their two sons, both Power Penguin players, Brycen and Hunter.

Bob Tarring

An avid supporter and coach of lacrosse since 1971, Tarring begins his 32nd season coaching college lacrosse and his second at Stevenson. During his career, he has been a part of two national championship teams at Division I and II, coached 42 All-Americans, including six goalies, 15 Hall of Fame members and two ILF Grandmasters World Championship teams.

A 1968 graduate of Virginia, Tarring began his coaching career with the Cavaliers in 1971 under head coach Glen Theil and spent three seasons as the assistant head coach working with the defense and goalies. The team went 31-10 during that time and made three NCAA tournament appearances, highlighted by its 1972 national championship.

Tarring coached two All-Americans while in Charlottesville, including three-time honoree Brice Mangels. He also mentored Rodney Rullman who ranks second on the school's career saves list with 553.

In 1974, Tarring led Virginia to become the defensive coordinator and goalies coach at Towson under head coach Carl Runk. He spent six seasons with the Tigers from 1974-79 where they won the 1974 College Division National Championship. Towson finished with a 14-1 record and earned the title with an 18-17 overtime victory against Hobart.

Under Tarring's tutelage, Wendell Thomas was named USILA Defenseman of the Year and earned first team All-American in 1974 after earning second team accolades the year before. Tarring worked with four All-Americans at Towson, including Paul Russo, Steve Hornis and Tom Harrison.

Tarring left Towson in 1980 to become the assistant head coach under Richie Mead at the University of Baltimore where he spent five seasons and helped the team to an upset of fifth-ranked Maryland in his first year.

During his tenure at Baltimore from 1980-84, Tarring was also the Executive Director of the U.S. Lacrosse Foundation and Hall of Fame before serving as an administrator, television commentator and head coach of Team USA in the Indoor Lacrosse League (now Major Indoor Lacrosse League) from 1985-87.

After a five-year hiatus scouting and working camps and tournaments, Tarring returned to the college game in 1992 as an assistant coach at Goucher during the team's inaugural season, beginning a 17-year career with the Gophers. He remained a staple of the program under three different head coaches, helping the team transition to the Landmark Conference in 2008 after 17 seasons in the CAC.

Goucher totaled 117 wins, 34 All-CAC selections and eight All-Landmark honorees during Tarring's tenure, including USILA Honorable Mention All-American defender Chris Webber and goalie Craig Reeves. The Gophers won a school record 13 wins in 2001 and posted an 11-5 record in 2008 and advanced to the Landmark championship game.

Off the field, Tarring is a board certified owner of his own company, Tarring Orthotic & Prosthetic Services, Inc., located in Towson, MD.

Bob will be on staff at our 2010 Nantucket lacrosse camp.

David Evans

is the former Head Assistant Lacrosse Coach for the Brown University Men's Division I Lacrosse team. David played for the Boston Cannons from 2001 (the league's inception) until 2006 and was selected to the All-Star Team five times. He won

the league's Fastest Shot Contest 3 years in a row and has one of the fastest shots in the world ever recorded (109mph). David was voted the Boston Cannon's Most Valuable Player in 2002 and Offensive MVP in 2001 and is the Cannon's all-time leading goal scorer. David played for Brown University and was a three-time All American (1994,1995, 1996), He also earned the following honors: Ivy League Player of the Year (1995), Ivy League Rookie of the Year (1993), and four-time All Ivy
League. David was named to the All Millennium Team (‘00) and the All Decade Team (‘90s). David also is a co-owner of Quality Lacrosse Camps.

PrimeTime Lacrosse is proud to have David on board for our Nantucket camp.

John Wait

In addition to serving as the director of our PrimeTime penguins summer programs, John will take the helm of the U-13 penguins this summer. John played defense and LSM for Merrimack College in North Andover, MA, before moving on to the Duxbury Lacrosse program. John began as a coach at the U-15 level, before moving on to the Assistant coach position at Duxbury High School under current Quinnipiac head coach Eric Fekete. John eventually took the head coaching position for Duxbury High School, leading the team alongside current head coach Chris Sweet. In his 6 years at Duxbury, John coached numerous All-Conference, Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastics, with many taking their game to the college level at the Division 1 and 3 levels.

For the Past 11 years, John has been coaching all levels of the King Philip Youth Lacrosse program from Learn to Play through the U-15 level, in addition to helping to start the Friday Night Lights League for advanced players.

 

Rich Claflin

Joining the staff of our U-11 penguins, as well as our clinics, Rich Claflin is another tremendously experienced coach who will bring a lot to the PrimeTime Lacrosse program. Rich played 4 years at Newton North High School followed by a successful college career at Plymouth State and later UMass-Boston before moving on to the NYPD Club Lacrosse Tournament Team.

Rich’s coaching experienced has included stints at Newton North High School with the JV program and later as an assistant at UMass-Boston. His youth experience includes time with Trumbull, Connecticut youth lacrosse at the U-9 developmental level and is currently a U-9 and U-11 coach and the U-11 Coordinator with Newton Youth Lacrosse. Rich has been in Law Enforcement for the past 12 years, and current resides in Newton.

 

Steve Schairer

Play ActionBringing over 25 years of coaching experience to the PrimeTime Lacrosse team, Steve Schairer comes to PrimeTime Lacrosse after helping to operate VIP Lacrosse since its inception. Steve served as the head coach at Dean College in Franklin for 18 years, and currently works as the Assistant Boys Varsity coach at Needham High School. Steve is a 1998 inductee into the New England Lacrosse Hall of Fame, and brings a tremendous amount of coaching experience across all levels of the game to PrimeTime Lacrosse.

Lou Verrochi

Another founding member of VIP Lacrosse, Lou is the current head coach of the Boys Varsity program at Franklin High School, earning two Hockomock League Championships in his time there. He founded both the Franklin boys and girls youth programs in 1998. Lou also has extensive experience at the college level as a head coach at Bryant College in Smithfield, RI and as an assistant at Dean College in Franklin. Lou is a valued addition to the PrimeTime Lacrosse coaching staff.
